South Homecoming festivities seem to begetting bigger and better as the years goby.Balloons were everywhere, after the finalgo from principal Gary Druckemiller.Sponsored by the senior class, a balloonrace involved students buying balloonsseveral days before the race and everyoneletting them go at the same time.Behind the scenes, before the balloonscould go off, senior class members placedslips with students names on them in eachballoon, filled the balloons with helium, andgot them ready for flight. After allowing twomonths for slips to be sent back to the owners, the winner with the postmark from farthest away won a $25 gift certificate.Along with the balloon race, many students participated in Spirit Week. The week,which began with a 50s day, includedclash, disguise, western, and purple andwhite days.Homecoming floats were displayed during the parade, with the senior class floatnamed the winner during halftime.Then the event that all activities had builtup to during the week was a success; theBloomington Panthers defeated the TerreHaute North Patriots 28-7.
