Description:	Different StrokesBy Gunner Hutchins and Krista SporeWhen junior Ali Kearney came to Northfrom her old school in Lancaster, Ohio, sheknew she would have to adapt to the newenvironment.But what she didnt realize is that shewould adapt to a new swimming programwhich would qualify her for the IHSAAstate meet.At Kearneys old school, the swim teamdid very little training.It was pretty much a joke, Kearneysaid. The practices were never hard.Noths swim program was very differentfrom what she was used to.North is harder, a lot harder, she said.She competed in the 50 yard freestyle,100 yard butterfly, 200 yard freestyle relay,and the 200 yard medley relay througoutmost of the seasonAli has really helped in the 50 yardfreestyle, junior teammate Kayla Pointer said.Kearney has also adjusted to a new schooland new teammates.North is bigger, Kearney said. But itsjust another high school with new people.Sophomore teammate Jessica Spore sawKearney change during the season.Early in the season Ali was a little shy, butnow shes really fun to be around, Spore said.The change was seen by other teammatesas well.Ali has really improved her swimmingand opened up too, Pointer said.Kearney said one of the highlights of theyear was making it to the state meet in the50 yard free, 200 yard free relay, and the200 yard medley relay.She was joined at state by seniors KarliAlsop, Amy Rubinger, juniors Holly Hoover,Ruby Kohler, Elaine Euler and sophomoreElizabeth Munroe.We have an incredibly good team, but not only arewe good in the water, we form a great unity whichhelp us accomplish our goals.-Elizabeth Munroe, sophomore (pictured right)Senior Emily Newman swimsthe 200 yard individualmedley at sectionals.
