Description: Girls Take More Than a Few GamesDuring the pre-season,North girls basketballmembers felt they would bea team that would take afew games. As the seasonprogressed, however, theirperformance and attitudeon the court became morepositive as the Varsity went13-7 and the Reserve, 9-8.No matter how good ateam one has, there arealways opponents whichdominate you in some formor another. Jeffersonvilleand Floyd Central, saidCoach Jeannine Butler,were too fast andBloomington South was toobig. These were thoseteams advantages, ourdisadvantages. But Cougarplayers never gave upwithout a fight.The Cougars playedBrown County February 5and defeated the Eagles,46-26. They then advancedto the final sectional, butlost in overtime toBloomington South by aclose score of 53-49.North will lose seniorletterwomen LynnBridgwaters, Adrian Griffin,Vicki Holt, Kim Hudelson,and Kari Pace. However,Coach Butler expects tohave a strong, aggressiveteam again next year.The Cougar Varsity squad tipped off to a good season over TerreHaute North on November 17, with the half-time score standing at42-20 in Norths favor. During the second half, T. H. Norths defensepicked up, putting a little extra pressure on the Cougars. Junior LoriCrandall dodges the defensive moves of Sue Hook as senior LynnBridgwaters of the Cougars heads up court to permit a bounce pass.The Cougars went on to defeat T.H. North, 74-47, thus welcomingtheir first home victory.
