They provide the opportunity tobuild friendships and learn necessary skills to succeed after high school. Athletes like many differentaspects of the sports in which they participate.I like the competitiveness between schools, said sophomore football player Cody King. I lovethe rush of running out onto the field as a team.Many athletes at Bloomington North share common feelings with King. Most of them lovecompeting, but they also love playing their sport for fun. It provides an escape from school work andthe other pressures of high school.I like the competition. Plus, I really like the sport I play- baseball, junior second baseman JakeMorrow said.Competition, however, is not the only thing that students like about high school athletics.They provide opportunities to go new places and build new friendships that would not otherwisebe available.I like playing sports because of the people I meet, said junior Danielle Hobbes, a varsity athletein volleyball, basketball, and softball.Junior Carly Dunnuck agreed with Hobbes.I like having fun with the girls, and it leads to better team chemistry, Dunnick said.You get the chance to be around other people, I woulddo anything for those girls.- senior cheerleader Natalie BayeEverything its life, its why I come to school.- senior soccer player Jesse Latham-BrownSports 57 |
