They faced suchteams as Martinsville, Vincennes, New Albany, andWashington. The melting pot of the former freshmanplayers was strengthened by two reserve returnees,Danny Sparks and Terry Hays. The primary handicapfor the cubs was the fact that the boys came from thethree junior high schools, and they had never beenexposed to the keen competition which faced them thisyear.
