Gene Kahl and Dan Sparks, football managers check first aid techniquewith Nurse, Mrs. Hartman.Throughout the season, the highlight of the Bloomington High School Panther squad was defense. In theclosing games of the season, it was the performance ofthe defense that made for good aggressive action. The offense was well-balanced, and the Panthersaveraged 21.1 points per game, against the opponentsaverage of 6.8.The achievements of this team can be attributed toteam spirit, a real sense of cooperation, and an enjoyment for playing and working together as a single unitinstead of individuals. The senior lettermen contributedto the success of the team and were given outstandingsupport by the underclass lettermen, who will carrythe burden next year. The Panthers set the pace for an 8-2 season by defeating Connersville 33-6. This was a very outstand nggame from the standpoint of team spirit as well as actualperformance.Faced with a muddy field away from home, theteams frame of mind took a nose-dive in the NewAlbany game. There were at least six fumbles, and thePanthers went down with a score of 13-2.The Washington game threatened a number of unfavorable conditions, but the boys were in no mood tobe defeated again. Overcoming a bad field, severalfumbles, an all-state half back, and one of the strongestteams they met all season, the Panthers triumphed 13-7.At Columbus, team spirit and a capable offense wereagain evident as the Panthers made 34 points. The Bulldogs, celebrating their homecoming, managed to score7 in the last quarter of the game.* 20/ 34 *9 i Bl 145, $ 44 « 55 39 3g* 43.33 j s3:a32^^/4r^^*T^T3b^2^s4M7 ! 3^•^fle *#42<. °,%^m * ~)7 *-a*3Ps&*» k . \ fmr* k ■»»First row: Don Wampler, Pooch Harrell, Larry Hacker, Ollie Bridgewaters,Keith Higgins, Jim McMillan, John Frye, Bob Boruff, Carl Lentz.Second row: Bill Bissey, Ron Dillingham, Ed Davidson, Albert Griffith,Paul Miller, Ron Brinegar, Jim Perry, Danny Rawlins, Gary Ryser, BillFinley, Joe Moore, Ken Wampler.Third row.
