The student librarians soon find out that it takes two things tomake a library. Those things are people andbooks, but the most important is people. Libraiytraining is open to any student in grades tenthrough twelve who is interested, has good citizenship, and is willing to work one period eachday. The student assistants are students with variedtalents, because the library offers a place for thedevelopment of many aptitudes. Students withartistic ability help make the library attracive.Other students contribute their assistancethrough clerical work and processing new books. All student librarians do the daily routines ofchecking books in and out, shelving books, anddoing minor mending.
