Description: Practice and tournamentsEighth grade, 4 minutes 59.1 seconds; and seventhgrade, 5 minutes and 36 seconds were the top recordsturned in by the JUNIOR CROSS-COUNTRY boysas they ran their annual tournament at the CascadesCourse.There was no cross-country season for the juniorhighers, but a call was made for all junior high boyswho were interested in running a cross-country raceagainst other members of their class.In the eighth grade race, Larry Simpson turned inthe fastest time. His brother, Jimmy Simpson, coppedthe seventh grade race with ease.This program is to stimulate interest in crosscountry among the junior high boys.Fifty-six boys entered the JUNIOR HIGH INTRAMURAL WRESTLING tournament this year.The main objective of the program was to determine whether a boy had enough interest in wrestlingto enter the sport when he becomes a freshman.Any junior high boy interested in participating ina wrestling meet with boys his own age and weightwas taught the basic fundamentals of wrestling during the two weeks period preceding the contest. Thetournament began the week after the regular varsityseason closed.The boys were coached by Clifford Two-BitMyers. The champion and runners-up in each poundclass of the finals were awarded ribbons for theirefforts.Junior Cross-country. Row one:Tom Taylor, Larry Simpson,Edgar Smith.
