Parabola attended the HighSchool and University here and waspopular in juvenile society circles. Atan early age, she displayed markedtalent as an actress and was notedfor the marvelous rich quality of hermellow soprano voice.After leaving the University, sheappeared for a time in motion pic-tures, but soon realized that thescreen did not offer her the best pos-sibilities to display her vocal talent.She engaged for some years in minorcharacter work under Belasco and,after his death, became a member ofthe National Grand Opera Company,with which she remained until herpresent engagement as Prima Donnafor the Victor-Edison Company.Numerous Bloomington people haveseen her from time to time in theannual opera at Indianapolis, andmany more are planning to see herthis year at New York when shemakes her bow to Broadway as PrimaDonna.CITY ORDINANCEBe it known to the public that it isabsolutely forbidden to use fireworksany closer than one block East, West,North or South of the Deaf and DumbAsylum, as it would probably disturbthe inmates.(Signed) CLDYE SNODDY,Chief of Police.DARING BANDIT ESCAPESDesperate Rudolph Eludes Of-ficers at Sing Sing$5,000 Offered for Capture(Special to The Informer.)JULY 1, 1944.--Desperate Rudolphhas again escaped from the Sing Singprison. Rudolph, the daring banditwho has terrified this section of thecountry with his daring robberies andDesperate RudolphFive thousand dollars for the cap-ture or a clue which leads to the cap-ture of this notorious outlaw.hold-ups, made his get-away from theprison this morning.At 5 oclock this morning Rudolphsucceeded in clubbing his keeper intounconsciousness and made his escapethru the use of the keepers keys.Due to the fact that the escape wasmade at such an early hour, the con-vict probably got out of the city be-fore many people were on the streets.There is no clue as to the where-abouts of Desperate Rudolph. Theprison blood hounds were used thismorning in an attempt to track thecriminal, but failed to be of aid.Terror of CountryRudolph has been the terror of thispart of the country for the last eightyears. It was in the year 1939 thatthis well known crook paid the citi-zens of Bloomington a visit. He suc-ceeded in getting away with about$35,000 in money and other valuables.The home of Mr. Bruce Chambers, thebanker, was robbed and moneyamounting to $15,000 was taken. TheBecovitz & Wells Pawn Shop was alsoentered by Rudolph and many valu-ables were taken. Several other firmsin the business district suffered losses.Reward OfferedThere has been a reward of $5,000offered for the capture of DesperateRudolph, dead or alive. The officialsare unable to find a clew as to hiswhereabouts. Nevertheless, it is thegeneral belief that he is headed forthe West.Fourth Time in PrisonThis well known criminal has thusfar been in prison four times. Thefirst time he was sentenced to theKentucky State Prison for two yearsfor robbing a grocery store. He serv-ed his full term and was released.The second time, Rudolph was sent tothe Indiana State Reformatory andsucceeded in escaping after shootingthe warden and his pet bull dog.
