0012_Aurora Alternative High School, The Phoenix, 2002

Description: visiting Aurora and always leave thosevisits feeling uplifted, excited, and renewed .5. Do you think Aurora has filled someneeds that the school corporation didntexpect it to fill? What are those needs? As I said, Aurora was permitted toevolve based on the needs which became apparent as that was happening. From itssmall beginnings in the little house onAdams Street until now, Aurora has alwaysexceeded expectations. This is because ofa dedicated, hard-working staff and motivated student body.7. What kind of changes do you predictwill happen for Aurora when the new superintendent comes in?I think the new superintendent cannot help but be very impressed withAurora. I think he will work to see thatAurora continues to be successful and thatAurora continues to grow and flourish.7. Do you think Aurora will have to make afew changes of its own? If so, what kindof changes? From the beginning, Aurora has beenpermitted to evolve on its own, to growitself. It is constantly changing, constantly evolving, constantly adjusting tothe needs of its students. The facultyand students have handled this evolutionsensibly and responsibly, and I have nodoubt that this model will continue.8. What are the top three memories youwill take away with you from being theMCCSC superintendent?1. The birth of Aurora Alternative HighSchool would have to lead the list.2. The opportunity to recruit good peoplein the school system and the pleasure derived from working with all the fine people here will always be a fond memory.3. Watching all of the students in theschool corporation succeed in their ownway has been very rewarding. If you could say one thingto Dr. Coomer what wouldyou say? Thanks. Thanks for havingthe vision to support aschool where teachers are allowed to attend to the individual needs of the students. -Jeff RacyAshley McCammonWhy are youleaving me?Id throw myself in frontof a bicyclefor you!Chuck HollowayThanks for realizing the needfor alternative education inBloomington.
