This year we welcomed Jenny Hobson into the Aurora familyso she could complete her degree in teaching. She started working withEnglish teacher Janet Johnson on the Aurora Writing Project in the fallafter Janet spoke to one of her classes at IU. and asked for volunteers.After her fiance was involved in a car accident, Jennywanted to transfer her student teaching from Bedford to Bloomington to becloser to him. Since she liked the writing project, she decided to student teach at Aurora. She started in April and will finish at the very end ofthe school year. I like how the teachers treat the students like people, saidJenny when asked what was appealing about Aurora.Jenny is planning to get married in June and move to anotherstate. Teaching here is a great way to end my stay in Bloomington and Iam grateful to be here, she commented.Students at Aurora enjoy having Jenny here and think she will findhappiness and success in her career as a teacher. We wish her the best in all that she will accomplish. Jenny is really nice and goes out of her wayto make you feel comfortable, said Johanna Plew, a student at Aurora.Another helpful hand at Aurora is Sarah Erb. She helps with the English / Life skills class. One has been a great aide for JanHagemeyer and Susie McCloud. Janet recommended her for thisposition because she knew her from I.U. After spending some time atAurora, she finds the way Chuck Holloway runs an alternativeschool positive and influential. Previously, Sarah worked as a full timemiddle school teacher in Shelbyville. What I miss the most is tkeenergy and insights of all the students, Sarah commented.While studying for her PhD in language Education, sheworks part-time as tke director of The English Teachers Ccollaborative,Along with all her work and academic activities, she is a single parent.She has a son, Justus, who is seven years old and a daughter, Sierra, age 3.We wish Sarah the best of luck with everything.
