Delaware St.] Yes Mavity-Christian House1624 North Delaware Streetc. 1875This house was built as a rental house between 1871 and 1887, by owner Jacob T. Wright, who owned other lots. The first owner-occupant was wind Lydia Mavity and her family. Wilmer Christian, M.D., occupied the house from 1903 until 1924. Dr. Christian was active in the medical community and in 1910, became the vice-president of the Anchor Life Insurance Company of Indianapolis. Nellie Wells was the owner occupant in the 1940s and 50s. The houses as divided into eight apartments by 1972.This is a 2 1/2-story frame house with a cross gable roof plan and a second floor apartment with an entrance on the north facade. The roof is flared at the southeast corner. Flat, incised pilasters bracket the front entrance.
