Plate Featuring a Carstairs on the Clyde Pattern

Description: This pink and brown transfer print depicts Carstairs House, situated near the river Clyde, a fine modern Gothic mansion; its owner, Rt. Monteith, Esq. (b. 1812; suc. 1848), holds 5581 acres in the shire. Ordnance Gazetteer of Scotland: A Survey of Scottish Topography Vol. 1, 1882. On the reverse rim is a backstamp of ribbons labeled Carstairs on the Clyde and Belle Vue;.
