In the background are mountains and a castle across the river. Before him, in a flower-decked oval, is a bull and the word April. Around the rim is a streaked, blurred and mismatched border of allegorical figures labeled as the four seasons. Alternating with these are cameos of bouquets reaching into the well, linking these in the well are garlands. On the bottom is a cloud-veiled moon labeled Seasons. Near it is an impression Adams.
