Letter from Albert L. Fisher to Jesse Dorsey, February 21, 1944.

Description: Fisher writes …each day brings us closer to our goal - Victory… He thanks Dorsey for the picture book and says it bring him closer to home allowing him to daydream some. Fisher says the troops in the States are fortunate to have U.S.O. Clubs, picture shows and buses from camp to the cities. Due to censorship he can’t write much. He has seen things in war that he would like to forget and probably will never talk about to anyone. This letter is part of a large group of letter written to or by Jesse G. Dorsey during World War II. Dorsey ran the community house for the Louisville Cement Company in Speed, Indiana. Being a veteran of World War I, he knew the value of providing support to the troops. He wrote letters and sent the company newsletter (Speedometer) to several hundred service men and women during the war. The community house also hosted weekend parties for soldiers from Fort Knox, Kentucky during the war.
