Description: Correspondence, speeches, and other documents sent to and from Will H. Hays during the 1920s. Born in Sullivan, Indiana in 1879, Hays served as chairman of the Republican National Committee (February 1918-June 1921); manager of Warren G. Hardings presidential campaign (1920); U.S. postmaster general (March 1921-March 1922); and president of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA) (1922-1945). In addition to materials related to Hays personal and professional interests, this folder contains correspondence about a deal between Warner Brothers and Electrical Research Products, Inc., the Southwestern Indiana Historical Society, the Vermejo Club, and a rumor that Roscoe Arbuckle is getting back into the movie business. It also includes New Year messages, thank you notes for Christmas gifts, job requests and recommendations, correspondence with Joseph Breen about publicity and the Catholic situation, a memo about theaters and state legislation, a memo to the staff of the Motion Picture Herald about its editorial policies and practices, a radio message from Hays in connection with the film Cimarron, and a report on legislative work for January, 1931.
