Description: |
John T. Bryant was a member of Company K of the 15th Indiana Infantry Regiment and in February of 1862, his unit was stationed near Chattanooga, Tennessee. In his letter, John Bryant refers to a battle occurring to his front, possibly a reference to the Battle of Shiloh, which also occurred in the middle of February of 1862 and the 15th Indiana participated in that battle. After, the unit remained in the area and participated in the siege of Corinth and the battle of Perryville, later in October of 1862. Bryant writes about missing home and the possibility of reenlisting. Bryant is not inclined to reenlist and talks about battle fatigue and wanting to be home.
