375. Rose Island Entrance

Description: The large stone pillar and cast iron sign spelling out Rose Island capture the viewers attention first in this photograph. In addition to the sign there is a large crowd of people, dressed in the style of the 1920s, disembarking from a excursion steamboat. The front half of the boat can be seen with the Texas deck and stacks visible on the left side of the picture. Dock sheds can also be seen just beyond a picket fence on the left side of the photograph. Behind and beyond is the Ohio River and the Kentucky shoreline.
