Description: |
1930 era photograph of a herd of Jersey cattle. The Rose Island Company purchased its own herds and hired local farmers to raise cattle in order to provide fresh milk and butter to the hotel kitchen, concession stands, and for the catering services. The Rose Island cows were maintained on farms off of the peninsula, but close enough for deliveries several times a day. |
