Huntington County Hospital

Description: This is the third hospital in Huntington County. The first was at the south east corner of E. Market and Second Sts. The next location was 207 Frederick St. at the corner of Charles St. The Huntington County Hospital was completed for open house Sept. 3, 1917 at this location. The School of Nursing which was established in 1913, was north of the hospital. It was discontinued in June 1931. The picture shows the completion of the 50 patient addition in 1943. Dr. W.S. Grayston played a key role in the establishment of the hospital. The Board of Trustees adopted a new name Nov. 19, 1971, the Huntington Memorial Hospital. A limited amount of these cards were made in May 1973 for fundraising for the Coronary Care Unit addition.
