Description: |
Dorothy Phillips and her husband lived in a rented home in Jeffersonville at the time of the flood. Instead of leaving, Dorothy signed up to work with the American Red Cross at the Rose Hill School site that provided refugees a meal and place to sleep before heading north on the trains. Her husband worked with the rescue efforts. Losing everything in the flood, the couple moved in with relatives afterwards until they got back on their feet.
