Photograph of a Piper Cub airplane at the Beeler Airport in Clarksville,Ind., circa late 1930s. Russell Beeler, the owner of the airport, is seen bending, third man from left, to the left of the plane. In 1928 Beeler leased land on the north side of todays Eastern Blvd. for an airport and flying school. The airport operated until 1941 when security restrictions made it almost impossible to keep small airports open. During World War II Beeler served in the Army Air Corps. |
