| Description: |
Photograph of a Ford Tri-Motor airplane at the Beeler Airport, Clarksville, Ind., circa late 1930s. In 1928 Russell Beeler leased land on the north side of todays Eastern Blvd. for an airport and flying school. The airport operated until 1941 when the United States declared war on Japan, and security restrictions made it almost impossible to keep small airports open. During World War II Beeler served in the Army Air Corps. |
