Description: Paul is somewhere in Korea. He sailed on Marine Lynx to Yokohama, Japan. Their ship picked up a distress signal from the SS Purple Star. They had a man that had been beaten over the head by MPs and needed medical treatment. The captain decided to help so they traveled 200 miles out of the way. From Yokohama, Paul went to Camp Drake near Tokyo. He traveled by train to Sasebo. Then he went by ship to Pusan, Korea. He was assigned to the 37th field Artillery, A Battery. He is stationed near Inje. He describes being fired upon by the enemy. He is now in the Fire Direction Center. This letter is part of the Jesse G. Dorsey Korean War Correspondence collection. Dorsey was the Director of Recreation and Welfare and editor of the Speed-O-Meter newsletter for the Louisville Cement Company. Dorsey began sending monthly letters and the Speed-O-Meter to local service personnel during WWII. He continued this through the Korean War and for sometime afterwards.
