New Providence (Borden), Indiana 1817 plat map

Description: A hand drawn plat map of New Providence, Clark County, Indiana 1817. This map drawn circa 1879 based on other maps in the collection and “Selser Creek 1879” labeled on map. Original is 14.5”x18”. It shows lots 1-53 with a Public Square in the middle. Written on the map “Beginning at the East end of the Town at the master point on the East side of where Main Street and East Street intersect each other as right angles.” Streets included on the map are Vine, Main, Water, East, Broad, Market, and West. South boarder of town is Muddy Fork of Silver Creek. The name of the town was changed in 1994 from New Providence to Borden.
