High Dive Park

Description:	High Dive Park is located at 511 Baldwin St. near Cassopolis along Christiana Creek. The land for the park was purchased in 1939 by Charles Fieldhouse. The park consisted of eight acres of old gravel pit. Fieldhouse dammed the Christiana Creek in two places to create a large outdoor swimming pool. The property was sold to the city in 1958. By 1982, the park property had expanded to nearly 15 acres. This photograph was taken prior to December 1977 when the top of the lower (seen to the right) was replaced. The tower was a 45-foot Dutch style windmill. The workings for the windmill were removed before the top was changed.
