Elkhart Driving Park

Description: Crowds frequently gathered to enjoy the spectacles offered at the Elkhart Driving Park. The park located at the northeast corner of Middlebury St. and Simpson Ave. was the site of many horse, automobile, and airplane races as well as a variety of athletic events. The circus and Buffalo Bills Wild West Show also used the grounds to entertain the citizens of Elkhart. It opened in August 1866 and remained in operation until 1930. This particular gathering took place in July 1915.
