Badminton shuttlecock or birdie

Description: For thousands of years, people all over the world have played games. The modern sport of badminton closely resembles the game, Poona, played in India during the 1800s. In 1934, the International Badminton Federation began sponsoring tournaments. The Olympics awarded the first Olympic medals for badminton at the 1992 Barcelona games. Today’s badminton player uses a racket and plays on a court similar to a tennis court. Unlike tennis, the shuttlecock may never touch the ground. As a competitive sport, the game requires fast reflexes and lots of energy. Badminton may be played alone or with a teammate in doubles.
