Description: |
Although this rock may look ordinary, when placed under a black light it has extraordinary colors. It contains the fluorescent (able to glow) minerals willemite, calcite and Franklinite. This rock comes from a mine in Franklin, New Jersey. Fluorescent minerals are often found in tailings (or debris) that are dumped outside the mine. Collectors often search for these minerals late at night with a black light. |
