Walleye

Description: The walleye gets its name because of the particular coloring of its pearlescent eye, which is caused by a reflective layer of pigments. This allows the fish to feed at night or in murky water. They are a freshwater fish, and can be found in the Great Lakes. Walleye like to live on the bottom, keeping in the shadows of submerged objects. When a smaller fish passes nearby, the Walleye will dart out and snag the unfortunate fish with its large, sharp teeth. They live about seven years, but most often are caught by fishermen at the one to three year stage.
