Description: This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: 1) Garage fire at 200 South Detroit Street. 2) Fire reported at 34th and Boulevard. 3) Fire reported at 330 North Forest Avenue. 4) Trash fires reported at 1247 North Capitol Avenue in the rear. 5) Dispatcher asks water company to shut water down at 1100 E 38th Street. 6) Water company called back questioning need for less pressure, water service man needed to shut off the fire hydrant. 7) Dispatcher tries calling hospital again to learn condition of injured firemen. 8) Two reports of a fire at 28th Street and Northwestern Avenue. 9) Chief requests the ranking officer in the district meet him at 1100 E 38th Street. 10) Caller asks about injured and deceased firemen. 11) Marion County General Hospital called to update Captain on condition of injured firemen, Captain Irwin relayed information to Chief. 12) Second report of a fire near 2200 Ruth Drive. 13) Possible miscarriage reported at 1405 Sturm Avenue.
