Description: This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: 1) Fire reported behind Wayside Furniture Company Warehouse, 720 West Washington Street. 2) Bob Basler called to report a fire clearing land at a construction site at 62nd and Carvel, several calls with extended discussion about legality of that kind of fire. 3) Stroke victim reported at 2432 Hillside Avenue. 4) Second call to disregard report of stroke at 2432 Hillside Avenue, woman was napping. 5) Roof fire reported at 2920 Baltimore Avenue. 6) Don Breedlove called to report Engine 34 out of service, visiting kids at YMCA. 7) Caller reports sprinkler system at Wayside Furniture Company Warehouse, 720 West Washington Street out of service. 8) Stroke reported at 1111 Eugene Street. 9) Kitchen fire reported at 1432 [street name inaudible] by Lucille Wheel. 10) Woman calling for assistance with elderly neighbor locked out of home, Mrs. Kaplan 4450 Indianola Avenue. 11) Ambulance sent to assist an overdose victim at 1209 N Illinois Street, Apt 38. 12) Five calls reporting explosion at Wake Up service station, 1100 East 38th Street. 13) Caller at 7221 Central Avenue requested fire department, incomplete call.
