Description: |
This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: 1) Fire reported at 936 Indiana Ave. Apartment 702, incinerator stopped, floor filled with smoke. 2) Ambulance sent to 238 McKim to assist a man who fell out of a window. 3) Woman reported a residential fire behind a house three doors south of her home at of 315 Cable St., between New York and Vermont. Extended discussion about transmitter stuck open, which seemed to be a common issue. 4) At 1:00 pm, a General Hospital ambulance called for manpower assistance at 1423 Mountcalm St. with a deceased woman who appeared to have been murdered.
