Description: This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt began at 12:04:1. Second alarm called in to dispatcher on Box 42. 2. Call from railroad representative asking if the Hygrade fire will affect rail traffic in the area, dispatcher says it should not be a problem. 3. Automobile collision reported at Park and Miami. 4. Second fire reported in Hygrade area, at Kennan�s Hog Pens 100 South Whiteriver Parkway. 4. Call for more hose tenders at snorkel 2. 5. Another caller reports seeing fire at Hygrade. 6. Dispatcher calls to direct multiple fire fighter squads to the Hygrade fire site. 7. Female 2875 North Dearborn. 8. Man calls from 1123 Vanderman, smells burning smell possibly from faulty wiring. 9. Baltimore-Ohio Railroad police call for status information on Hygrade fire near railroad tracks, specifically how long track will be blocked. The dispatcher responds the tracks are blocked and he cannot estimate how long the fire will be active. 10. Mechanic and gas truck ordered to site of Kennan Hog pens.
