This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: 1. Fire run report, medical assistance rendered to Robert Kirkwood at 6 South Euclid, male age 62 with heart trouble, and asthma, two tanks used with inhalator and zinc medicine. 2. Woman at 6508 Meadowlark Drive reports seeing smoke coming out of the ground in her backyard. 3. Fire run report, at 1571 Brinton a 1957 Pontiac owned by Charlotte Waddington had car backfire and required assistance, vehicle was repaired with no equipment used. 4. Tree and brush fire reported at 3700 North Keystone. 5. Garage fire reported at 1117 West 29th Street, engine 14 and truck 23 dispatched to respond. 6. Fire run report, one story house owned by Lester Freeland had peat moss ignite on its own and start a fire. Fire fighters raked peat around to extinguish, no supplies used. 7. Fire run report, James Carson at 3442 North Capitol, 1964 Dodge on fire from carburetor backfire, one extinguisher and 1 tank used. 8. Fire run report, car on fire belonged to Emmitt Marshall at 323 West 28th Street; car was 1958 Ford station wagon on blocks in backyard, one tank used to extinguish trash fire inside car. 9. Fire run report, house fire at 1117 West 17th Street, occupant Gladys Smith, owner Juanita Johnson, one tank required to put out trash fire in garage. 10. At 11211 Brookfield Road, woman calls to request ambulance for woman about to go into labor. 11. Woman locked out of house at 313 East 34th Street. Dictabelt |
