Harrison writes in answer to Whites letter of May 10th. He tells White that the two men contracted by Mr. Bell to supply wood to the furnaces are to be paid in salt as previously arranged and that White may not sell any salt to the leasee of the saline. In a postscript, Harrison commands White to inform those who have settled on the Indian lands above the Saline Creek to remove themselves or else he will send a military detachment to move them. White, Isaac One page is blank. Isaac White was in charge of the salt works on the Saline River in what is now Gallatin County, Illinois. Transcription of letter is located in Box 1, Folder 13, of the collection. |
