Elevated View of Riverside Park, 1926

Description: View of Riverside Park in June of 1926, with a view of The Caterpillar ride and roller coasters The Flash and The Thriller. Riverside Amusement Park was located on West 30th Street along the White River in Indianapolis. It opened in 1903, and in 1919 was purchased by John D. Coleman, who added two roller coasters. This photo appears to have been taken soon after these two rides were built, showing at least a partial view of both. Coleman instituted a whites only patronage policy, angering many throughout its long run, and the policy ended in 1963.
