This is the Civil War diary of William Sunderland Marshall, 1st Sergeant., 51st Indiana Infantry, Company E., covering time period of Dec. 14, 1861-Mar. 1, 1865. Some of the dairy appears to be written sometime after that, circa I 909. The diary includes glued and laid in clippings, currency prints, War Dept. Circular (Sept. 22, I 864), and letter from W. H. De Motte (July 19, 1863). Access Note: The original diary has suffered fire and water damage and the pages are very fragile. This item has been digitized to prevent further damage from handling.
