View of Athens, Indiana

Description: Athens was founded in 1837 as Hoover Station and was later named Grant. The railroad arrived in 1882 bringing growth, a grain elevator, livestock loading pens, and a pickle factory. The town was renamed Athens in 1896 for the city in Greece. This view shows the town during the early years of the 20th century.
