Main East of Meridian Street, Greentown, Indiana

Description: Greentown became one of Howard Countys boom towns after the discovery of natural gas deposits in the 1880s. This in turn spawned a related glass boom manufacturing industry in the county. Even so, Main Street remains unpaved in a view ca. 1916--well after the boom subsided.
