Mary Jane Griffin, Henry Turner, and Olive Griffin, 1896

Description: This tintype of sisters Mary Jane (left) and Olive Griffin (right) with their friend Henry Turner was created in 1896. The Griffin sisters lived in their childhood home, the Porter-Griffin house in Corydon, Indiana, throughout their lives. Olive (1876-1958) studied the millinery trade and managed the millinery department in her familys dry goods store in Corydon. Mary Jane (1874-1961) taught school and clerked in the family store as well.
