A fashionable portrait of Olive Griffin (1876-1958), fourth child of Patrick and Helen Porter Griffin. Having studied the millinery trade, Olive operated that department in her familys dry goods store in Corydon, Indiana. She travelled to Cincinnati, Ohio twice a year to study the latest fashions and purchase supplies of hat frames, materials, trimmings and veiling for the coming season. She was known for making unique hats specific to the individual tastes and styles of each customer. |
