Description: Portrait of Olive Griffin (1876-1958), fourth child of Patrick and Helen Porter Griffin of Corydon, Indiana. After graduating from high school, Olive Griffin went to Louisville, Kentucky and studied the millinery trade at Cannon & Byers. While in Louisville, she lived with her aunt, Attia Porter McKnight. Following her schooling she secured a position at the store of Holliway R. Sanders in Campbellsville, Kentucky, where she managed the millinery department for three seasons. In the fall of 1896, Olive returned to Corydon and opened her own millinery shop. In 1897, she joined her father and siblings to form the firm of Maurice Griffin & Company, which established a dry goods business on Beaver Street in Corydon.
