Telephone operators work switchboard

Description: Two women operate the switchboard of the Eureka Telephone Company in Corydon, Indiana, during the late 1930s. The telephone exchange was located on the second floor above the Conrad & Son Piano Company at the corner of Beaver and Elm Streets, and operated 24 hours a day, often with three operators working at a time. While the two women in this photograph have not been identified specifically, operators of the exchange at the time were: Iris Cammack, Georgia Hisey, Edith Glenn, Iolene Miller, Hazel Barrow, Ruth Barrow, Margaret Wise, and Verla Ruth Flock.
