Dr. William E. Amy examines Richard Allen Ott

Description: Dr. William E. Amy examines Richard Allen Ott of Depauw, Indiana, prior to Otts enlistment in the Army. Dr. Amy was a practicing physician in the Corydon area for over fifty years. A native of Washington Township, he began practice in Corydon in 1910 and became a prominent medical and civic leader in the region. He was instrumental in helping get the State to build Silvercrest Hospital in New Albany, and later he became the first director of the Harrison-Floyd Health Department, a position which he held for 25 years. Dr. Amy served overseas in the Army Medical Corps in WW I and also was a prominent civic leader in the Corydon area, and for a number of years he served as President of the Eureka Telephone Company. Dr. William Amy died in 1962 at the age of 82.
