Dr. Guy D. Baker

Description: Dr. Guy D. Baker of Crandall was a family physician and served communities in northern Harrison County for over 55 years. Born at Prairie, Illinois, Dr. Baker was the son of Adam and Minnie Mitchell Baker. He moved to Bradford with his family as a child. Before entering medical training, he taught school in the Bradford area. After graduating from the University of Louisville Medical School in 1910, he started his career as a physician in Georgetown. He established his practice in Crandall in 1913 and continued there as a family doctor and general practitioner until his retirement in 1968. During his career, he served as president of the Harrison County Medical Society and chairman of the Floyd-Harrison Counties Health Department. He was also an avid fox hunter and served as secretary of the Hoosier Fox Hunters Association. Dr. Baker died in 1969 at age 82.
