Dear friends-reading of the flood reaching you-we hope youll be safe! To you all Evansville area Illinois Indiana Kentucky Our river business section. The highest ever, 1913. Came on the street to sidewalk curb line only. High water, not a flood. Some few homes in lowest outlying sections, mostly out of city limits, will have some back waters around them. Water over road-detour. Farmers of the lowlands build and are prepared. They either weather ordinary rises-moving things to safety-or move out in good time. Concrete walls could be built for cost of losses in one flood. Travel to some places is handicapped, but access is possible by other routes.
