Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: Aerial of the new oil well in Mesker Park and depiction of reactions to it. The oil well sits in the middle of the park. Picnickers sit nearby; some of them complain that the oil is affecting the smell and taste of their food. A boy covered in oil says that he just fell in the grass. One man says that the city will be rich, but others have negative reactions. Another man says that the well was supposed to be built in the undeveloped part of the park; a second man responds that the beauty and the operation of the park were not supposed to be impaired, but now there is an oil well in the middle of a popular spot for picnics.
