Know and See Our Tri State. There are 9 Evansvilles in the U.S.A. one in each: Arkansas - Illinois - Indiana - Minnesota - Mississippi - Missouri - Pennylvania - Wisconsin - Wyoming. There is also an Evansville in Tennessee. Old Fort Built 2200 feet west of here in 1811 by the pioneers as protection against Indian attacks. LaGrange was renamed Fort Branch March 11 1856 Erected by The Fort Branch Community Club 1927 As you ride along on U.S. 41 (North) you will see the above marker on left hand side just north of road that goes to Fort Branch. The advent of the first railroad into western Kentucky 80 years ago was recently celebrated at Fulton KY. Now a part of the I.C. System.
