Description: |
A cartoon on conserving tires. A man in the rubber industry tells Public that everyone can keep their cars running without using any rubber needed in the war if people drive less and more slowly. A poster shows the amount of wear for tires in each position and reminds drivers to rotate tires. A busted tire laments the fact that only 25% of people have reduced their speed or amount of driving. A sign points out that heat, both from the weather and from driving fast, burns tires up faster. Image Access WideTEK 25 Im telling you as one from the rubber industry and if youll do as we say we can keep everybodys auto running without tapping vital war rubber! IF you cut out unnecessary pleasure driving--also cut by driving 40% fewer miles (7,000 a year), 40 miles an hour on road, 20 miles an hour in town and--. Owners of 23,000,000 autos who are not in on tire rations. Percentage of total wear for each tire. 29%. 14%. 38%. 19%. Switch about every 2500 or 5000 miles depending on mileage, age, and wear of each. 79143. Woe is me with only 25% of drivers driving slower and less. And most of that in gas--rationed east. Keep them cool. Summer heat plus speed heat burns them up. Slow, less driving. |
